Time Flies

It literally does, doesn’t it – whether you are having fun or facing challenges. Time flies really fast. Especially for us, humans.

Human life is fragile and fleeting.

As cliche as it may sound, one must truly live in the moment while treasuring those special memories we’ve had in the past.

We should live like a child. They spend time without thinking of actually spending it. They are spending it on things that’s worth something to them. Children live their lives in a quite predictable and straightforward manner. They express whatever it is they are feeling – the way they appreciate simple things, the way they laugh on small stuff, the way they cry whether it be because they are happy or sad, the way they are curious to things around them, the way they play, their innocence, charm and spirit. We should, in a way, live like them.

Can you remember those days when you didn’t give a damn on what other people think, so long as you are doing what makes you happy? Can you remember those days when you are taught what is right and wrong; and you strive your best to do the former? Can you remember the days you spent wondering on how things are made or how things work? Can you remember those times when you are full of life? Remember those days when you get knocked down but you just getup right away and you learn to do better?

Time flies, right? So let us take a small step back and learn from the younger versions of ourselves. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll be able to live a little better.

Candid

If there’s one thing I like taking photos of the most it’d be candid shots of my friends or random strangers.

There’s something about unrehearsed photos that I find appealing; the vulnerability of it. The genuineness of the photo. A true moment stolen and immortalized.

If a picture is worth a thousand words. Candid ones is worth more.

Think of it as an art. A bare one; a photo stripped of all its pretensions.

It is and will always be my favorite kind of photo.

Food Festival! Need I say more?

While browsing my social media – Instagram, I came across a short video of an IG user, @Hungryhugh whom I have been following for quite a while now. It featured a food festival of some sort that’s quite near my place. Coincidentally, I have a friend visiting from the Philippines and knowing her, I decided that we’d go there and check the festival out. And it did not disappoint!

The OC Night Market is the original and largest night market in the United States. It features over 200 vendors from food, crafts, retail and merchandise. Below are snippets of the awesome day we had at the festival!

I wasn’t able to take a lot of photos but there are a lot of stores that sell novelty items and you’re sure to find nifty things that you’ll surely love like handmade stuff toys, artworks such as paintings and sketches, flowers that live forever, Unique Jewelry, Accessories and so much more.

Aside from the vendors there are pop-up booths for entertainment too. Such as the live concert which features great music from local bands/artists and awesome booths for games for the whole family to enjoy and we definitely did enjoy all of ’em!

Of course, there’s a ton of Food vendors! Like seriously! My friend and I didn’t know what to do at first – should we go around and buy the food we like right away or should we scout the whole area first and take note of the standouts then buy them later. Prepare yourself and make sure you use your time wisely and better come early too, as people multiply by the minute. Literally.

We were in a mess. A beautiful kind of mess. The type of mess you’d want to be in. We just decided to do both of the strategies when it comes to food hunting. If we really like the food we buy it right away, if it’s interesting; we take note and save it for later – and that’s how we did it. Check out the snaps of the foodventure we had at OC Night Market!

We capped the night off with a bang. We watched a street dance battle between two awesome crews! There are times when even the audience joined in including an adorable little girl! How awesome and cute is that!!!

Little Kid Meets his Hero

Remember when we were young, when we used to look up to the characters we grew up watching, mimicking their pose/s, saying their line/s as if it was our own – wasn’t it everyone’s dream to be or just meet their childhood hero?

I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to meet mine in person. I had this fantasy of bringing all my favorite heroes to life and be able to bond with them – or save the world – even for just a day, or a few minutes. Wouldn’t that be cool?

Guess what, I did meet some of them. Kind of. You know all those people at theme parks or malls or restaurants dressing up with costumes and all that to look like some of the characters we’ve read in the books or shown on television and movies – thanks to them, it felt like I met my heroes in real life.

I don’t actually remember how I felt really. Maybe I was ecstatic, overjoyed, scared? Who knows?! But as an adult now, seeing kids meet their heroes like the one on the video on this post – It’s Heartwarming! I was in awe the whole time. The moment in itself was magical and Adorable. I can just imagine how the kid (Xander) felt while taking to his Hero. He even have this Optimus-Prime-like helmet on. He must’ve been on Cloud 9 that day. I wish all kids in this world would get the chance to meet their heroes in the flesh one day! Sharing with you this amazing moment I caught on tape.

Potatoes are awesome

Aside from hash brown and french fries, you might want to add Potato Mountain in your list of things to try that’s got something to do with Potatoes. You read that right, there’s a  mountain with that name located on the far east, I think, of Los Angeles County in California, USA. Check out the video of my trip to that awesome place below. Potato Mountain offers a scenic view, vibrant trails, a few wild animals and lots of greeneries and beautiful flowers…

Again, excuse my editing and videography skills. I make do with what I have. Haha! Hope you’re trying out new things this 2017.

Cheers to more adventures and memories!

Alone’s good too

Alone; A word most people would want to avoid being – whether it be eating, watching a movie, shopping, traveling and what not. Doing things alone may seem sad and boring at first but hear me out when I say doing things all on your own has it’s own advantages and perks. Take it from someone who’s been there and done that; Take it from me who have eaten, watched a movie, shopped, hiked and traveled in a foreign country alone. And just for the record, I have awesome friends. Haha!

It’s just that I have encountered circumstances that led me to do all those things for the first time. You know, there are times when you are just too afraid/hesitant and cannot muster the strength to try out new things or face problems, the universe will do the work and put you in a situation where in you have no choice but to just do it. Have you ever experienced something similar to that? Life’s one great nudger.

where everyday we almost make contact with another person – be it a family member, a friend, or a stranger – a moment alone can make a huge difference. Wherein you can do things in your own pace without a care in the world. It’s important that we are able to detach ourselves every once in a while (probably often) in this like/follower-driven society. Doing things alone can boost your confidence and will definitely give you a better sense of independence. Because you will be taking charge of things, literally.

Generally speaking, as cliche as this may sound, we always have a choice on things. Whether we’d feel sorry for being alone or choose to make the best out of the situation we are in. So, when life gives you that gentle nudge, be sure to take charge and face it with all your might. As the saying goes, might as well enjoy. 🙂

Firsts

Hi, everyone!

This is my first attempt on Vlogging. I decided to try new things this 2017 and one of which is to video blog and document my upcoming trips and adventures. I thinks it’s a great practice:pushing ourselves to learn something new every now and then. I hope you’ll do the same. Look for things/activities that you’ve never tried before, or something that you’ve always wanted to try and just do it! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the experience and rush that one might get from doing unfamiliar and new things.

The video above shows some of the highlights of my trip when I decided to hike Mt. Hollywood. Luckily, the famous Griffith Observatory, SoCal’s portal to space, is located within the area. I got the chance to visit the place I have seen in movies, most recently in “La la land” (which is by the way, a fantastic film)

The hike to Mt. Hollywood’s peak is relatively easy. Just follow the trail from the observatory’s parking lot. There are a few stops you can make along the way wherein you can take a break, a photo op, or just enjoy it as it is. Such as Dante’s view, Berlin Forest, and so much more. Check some of the photos I took below:

Finally, I hope that you try out new things/experience soon! 🙂

PS. Excuse my amateur skills in videography and editing. I promise to learn and be better at it in the next few travels.

Cheers,
